Affiliate programme

Questions and answers

Everything here comes from our affiliate terms (section 22 of the Terms of Service). If the terms and this page ever differ, the terms apply.

Getting started8 questions

How does the affiliate programme work?

You apply, we review your application, and once approved you share your own link. When someone who came through your link becomes a paying customer, you earn a share of their first payment (and, on a monthly plan, of their second). Each commission is held for 60 days, then paid in the next monthly payout.

How do I join?

Sign in or create a SpiderVPN account, then fill in the short form: where you'll share your link, roughly how big your audience is, and how you'd like to be paid (bank transfer or PayPal). You can start only after we approve you in writing.

Who can join?

You must be 18 or older. You take part as an independent business, not as our employee, agent or partner, and you're responsible for your own tax. SpiderVPN suits people who write or make videos about routers and home networks, Fire TV and TV stick setup, Linux and privacy tools, or ad and tracker blocking.

How long does the review take?

We read every application ourselves, within 3 working days.

What are the commission rates?

43% of the first payment on a 1-year or 2-year plan. On a monthly plan, 100% of the first monthly payment and 75% of the second. At today's prices:

Commission at today's prices
2 years (£50.99)£21.93
1 year (£31.99)£13.76
Monthly (£3.99 a month)£3.99 + £2.99

Commission is worked out on the plan's price before any discount; we don't charge VAT.

Can I leave?

Any time. We pay your approved balance when you go, even if it's under £20, after each commission's 60-day hold.

Can the terms change?

We can change the commission or the affiliate terms for future sign-ups by emailing you with 30 days' notice. We can also end your participation, or the whole programme, by email with 30 days' notice, or at once if the terms are broken.

Marketing8 questions

When does a sign-up count as mine?

When a new customer starts a trial or buys on spidervpn.org after arriving through your link. Once they're linked to you, it doesn't expire: if their trial turns into a paid plan later, you're paid. A customer counts only once, and only if they're new to SpiderVPN.

How are clicks and sign-ups tracked?

Through your own link, spidervpn.org/r/your-code. We don't use tracking cookies, so someone who comes back later without your link, signs up in one of our apps, or buys in an app store isn't credited. Your dashboard shows clicks, trials, paid sign-ups and commission; bots are left out of the click counts.

Do app store purchases count?

No. Only subscriptions bought on spidervpn.org earn commission. Purchases in the App Store, Google Play or the Amazon Appstore don't.

What can I say about SpiderVPN?

Describe only what SpiderVPN actually does: WireGuard apps for phones, tablets, computers, TVs and TV sticks, and a WireGuard file for routers; SpiderVPN DNS, which blocks known advertising and tracking services while you're connected; and one account for up to 10 devices at once.

You may mention the free trial only with its full terms (section 7 of the Terms of Service).

What isn't allowed?

Don't claim SpiderVPN unblocks or gets round streaming services, sports, TV or other regional restrictions, and don't name streaming services. No speed, “best”, “no-logs”, “audited” or anonymity claims unless we've approved the wording, and never call SpiderVPN “free”.

No spam or unrequested messages, cookie stuffing, coupon or cashback sites, or sites with illegal or adult content. Don't use our name in a domain, app name or social handle, don't pose as SpiderVPN, and don't buy or sell accounts.

Do I have to say I earn a commission?

Yes. Say clearly that you earn a commission, for example “Ad” or “Affiliate link”. Follow the CAP Code and ASA guidance (UK) and the rules of each platform you use.

Payment7 questions

How do I get paid?

We pay approved commissions by hand once a month, by bank transfer or PayPal (your choice), with a statement. Statements show counts and amounts only, never customer details.

What is the minimum payout?

£20. A smaller balance carries over to the next month. When you leave, we pay your approved balance even if it's under £20.

When do I get paid?

Each commission is held for 60 days after the customer's payment, so that refunds, disputes and chargebacks can come through. After that it's approved and paid in the next monthly payout, once your balance is £20 or more.

Do you pay recurring commission?

No. You earn on a new customer's first payment on a 1-year or 2-year plan, or on the first two payments of a monthly plan. Other renewals and later invoices earn nothing.

What happens after a refund, chargeback or fraud?

A commission is void if its payment is refunded (in full or in part), disputed or charged back, or made with a payment method used without its owner's permission, whether during the hold or later. If we've already paid it, we take it off your next payout; if your payouts don't cover it within 90 days, or you've left, you repay it within 30 days of our email.

If we reasonably suspect fraud, or an unusual share of your customers ask for refunds or dispute payments, we may withhold payouts for up to 90 days while we look into it. We'll tell you by email.

Is there a limit on what I can earn?

No, there's no monthly cap. For your first 90 days, we review by hand any commission beyond your tenth in a calendar month before it's approved. It's a fraud check, not a limit: reviewed commissions are paid as usual.

Whose account can you pay?

Only a bank or PayPal account in your own name, or in the name of your registered business. We check this before your first payout and may ask for proof of identity or business details.
